Bait and Switch Part 2

Well, not much has changed since my previous entry regarding the discrepency in what LivingDot told me during the pre-sales process and afterwards. Below is the text from my last e-mail to LivingDot:

From what I understand, WP-Export works with WordPress version 1.5 and the latest version is 2.04, which has been available for only a week or so. The blog installed on the Network Solutions server was installed in May and I’m pretty sure it is version 2.02. Do you have access to a version of WP-Export that I’m not aware of that would have allowed an export of WP 2.02? Would it have been possible to install WP-Export prior to moving the site over and exporting my blog?

To which they replied:

Unfortunatly, WP-export was created and managed by an individual that is not connected to WordPress and they have not kept up with the plugin with the latest releases of WordPress. I’ve tried installed WPexport on your WordPress installation that I moved from Network solutions, however it did not work correctly. I am also unaware of any other plugin that can export WordPress into a Movable Type format.

At this point I’m going to stay with LivingDot until the end of the month, which is when my hosting package with Network Solutions is over (I can change my domain name servers at any point until then). This is my own version of a cooling off period. I’m still impressed with the complete hosting service that LivingDot provides. What this means is LivingDot installs both the Movable Type and Photo Blog software on their servers and respond to any application problems I may have. I like this because it means I don’t have to install any applications on my computer and don’t have to learn HTML, PHP, CSS, or any other web development language. Not sure if I’ll provide a follow-up to this post, but if the main blog looks a lot like the old Random Rumblings blog in early September, that probably means I didn’t get over it. We’ll see.
