I’ve got gas!

No, the gas you’re thinking about is a different story for another day. The gas I’m talking about is what we all put in our cars. At some point during the past few months I must have missed something, the other day I paid $1.99 per gallon for 87 octane gas. It cost me less than $35 to fill up the tank in my Jeep Liberty. Granted, I rarely look for the best price when picking a gas station to go to and I usually just go to the nearest gas station when the tank gets low. On top of that, I usually don’t pay attention to how much it costs when I’m inserting my check card in the machine. But this one gas station, which happens to be a Safeway gas stations, has 87 octane gas at $2.09 minus $.10 for being a Safeway member. Somehow I’m going to have to make a point to stop at this gas station more often. Lucky for me it happens to be on my way to/from work.

On a side note, to all the soccer moms and overcompensators, just because you pay too much money to buy an oversized SUV that you don’t even need, does not mean you are also buying 2 close-in parking spots at every parking lot you go to. And, if you’re going to buy one of these SUV’s, learn how to park it straight within the parking spot, not diagnally. If, by some stretch of the imagination you can’t figure out how to park your tank, take it to the back of the parking lot where no one else parks. I give you permission to use 2 spots in the back of the lot, assuming it is not Christmas shopping season and you are at the mall. If this is the case, just take the bus.

The other day, while whining to a friend about SUV parking problems, I was told the following joke. What is the difference between a Chevy Suburban and a porcupine? The Chevy has it’s pricks on the inside. I like that one. Of course, you can substitue any full-size SUV into that joke.

I’m off.
