Via Marina

Believe it or not, Via Marina is a road in Marina Del Rey, CA. At some point last week I was on that road as I spent a long weekend in Marina Del Rey. But, if you ask me exactly where it is and where I was going at the time, I probably wouldn’t have a good answer for you.

There wasn’t a whole big reason to go to LA other than I wanted to get away for a little while and LA is always a good choice since my brother lives there. The timing couldn’t have been any better or worse. I arrived on Wednesday night and returned on Monday morning. This allowed me to spend countless hours at Tony P’s Sports Bar watching college basketball. It also worked out well with St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday too. I’m not sure if I’ve ever commented on Tony P’s before, but it’s sort of like Cheers (the TV show). The second I walked in on Wednesday night, the bartender yelled out my name, people knew who I was, and I knew you there were. It doesn’t get much better than that. It’s something I have yet to find here in Denver.

The best part of the trip was the cost. My brother decided to return a favor by paying my food and drink expenses while I was there. This was in return for the help I provided him when he took some time off from working last year. It was a nice surprise, especially when we were talking about how much money we spent over the weekend. It’s very scary how much my brother and I can spend on Captain and Coke. Anyway, thanks Chris.

Other than the weather being warmer in Denver, there was one downside to the long weekend in LA. On Tuesday I had to turn around and go to Sacramento, CA for a work trip. After many early to bed nights from Sunday night on, it took me until Thursday to finally feel “caught up.” But it was definitely worth it.

Coming up in my next post will be some changes to the site… again.
