Fast Cash Fantasy Baseball – Konmen vs. Hoof Hearted

For the most part, I don’t consider Fantasy Baseball to be anything close to Fantasy Football. The baseball season is too long and it’s tough to keep up with the players week in and week out. But, at least once every season I get to play this one team. This season the team name is Hoof Hearted, but some of you might know him as Joker. Although the two teams were close in the standings last week, a resounding 12-4 win by the Konmen (me) and a lousy 12-5 loss by Hoof Hearted have placed us 7 games apart. Hoof Hearted also forgot to update his roster this weekend and has a starting catcher that is on the DL. Smells like a big win for the Komen to me.

  1. For the record, I did not forget to update my roster this week.

    (1) I do not feel I need a full squad to defeat the Konmen and (2) One of the nuances in an 18 man league is the inability to pick up a replacement player of quality off the available players list; couple that with only a few bench spots on the roster, and I cannot pick up a replacement for my disabled catcher.

I’m not so concerned. One of my tenets of Fantasy Baseball is that unless your catcher is Mike Piazza, who cares about the catcher?

One other thing – there is no comparison to Fantasy Football….

  2. All I hear are excuses!

Actually, I agree with #2, but not #1. I’ve gone through a couple of weeks this season with a starting player on the DL only because I didn’t think it was worth dropping a good player to pick up a short term rental.

There is one position that i consider less important than catcher, relief pitcher. In theory a good relief pitcher will get you saves, just one stat category. I tend to go with relief pitchers that offer better stats in the BB, K, ERA, and WHIP categories, which hopefully turns into more wins each week.

What I don’t understand is, how are the Meatballs in first place? Their pitching staff leaves a lot to be desired.

  3. Almost forgot. You’re right on another count too. There is no comparison to Fantasy Football. Maybe one day I’ll be allowed to join the world famous MFL.
