Hawaii – Days 4-7 – Maui

501 It’s been about 20 days since I returned from Hawaii, figure it’s about time for an update from the 2nd half of the trip on Maui. Luckily I’ll be able to keep this short because, well, I didn’t do a whole lot on Maui. I stayed at the Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas, which was a great location to relax, enjoy a few drinks, and meet some interesting people. Actually, the last part I was a little surprised with. Most people have this idea that Maui can be a tough place to go to as a single person. I didn’t find that to be the case; however, there were a few times I would have liked to have a sidekick. I didn’t take any pictures of the hotel room, but think I should have as proof to it’s impressiveness (is that a word?). The bed was super comfortable, the shower was big enough for a 5 person party (sorry, didn’t happen), and there was a mini hot tub in the room. It’s was really nice. The best I can do is provide a picture of the view from the room, at top-left.

607 Outside of Thursday I found myself doing a lot of the same things each day on Maui… having breakfast at the pool bar/restaurant, reading a book by the pool or on the beach, and eventually having dinner (with more drinks, of course). On Thursday I went for a long drive. At the beginning I wasn’t sure where I was going to go, but it turned out to be a drive on the Hana Highway. I stopped at what I think was Hookipa Park on the North Shore, but don’t remember seeing any signs for the park name. There was some good surfing going on there. It was amazing to see surfers look like little ants against the waves. I never did make it all the way to Hana as, something I didn’t think about when planning the trip, the days were short and the drive is very long. It doesn’t matter much as most people say it’s the journey, not the destination when it comes to the Road to Hana. Overall, it was a good trip. Next time, not sure when that will be, but I have to make a more concerted effort to golf while in Hawaii.

Photos from the trip can be found in the photo album here.
