We (the Konmen) are Champions!

lombardi_trophy In what will be the final Fantasy Football update of the season, I’m happy to announce the Konmen are champions of the Rare Air Fantasy Football League. Even more impressive, the Konmen won the championship as the 4th seed, beating Flava Flav (#1 seed and season most points) and Primanti Brothers (#2 seed and rival from Costa Rica).

Things didn’t turn out so well in the other leagues. The Konmen were eliminated from the Survival Pool during Week 11 with a loss by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Things were looking up in the Pick ‘em League around Week 13 when I scored the most points and catapulted up to first place overall. The following week I dropped slightly to 2nd place, but things were still looking up. And that’s when things came tumbling down. The internet connection at my apartment went down, my office internet connection doesn’t allow me to go to the Yahoo Fantasy sports pages, and I missed entering my picks for Week 15. The Konmen quickly moved down to 20th place where I now stand going into the season finale, over 100 points behind 1st. In other words, there’s no chance. Oh well, the Fantasy Football Triple Crown didn’t come to fruition, but I at least pulled off the victory in one league.

  1. Congrats on your fantasy football championship – It is a very ironic finish as well, because in the MFL, our 4th Seed, Musher’s Crushers, also won the championship, knocking off the #1 and #2 seeds.

The Mushtangs did not fare too well, missing the playoffs, finishing 6th out of 8, but looking forward to the 18th season of the MFL next year!

    Go Jets!

    • Thanks. I’m planning to open a consulting firm for fantasy football players during the summer of 2010. My first client will get free draft preparation services. It seems you can use the help, interested?

  2. Hmm.. let me think…. you know, I’m willing to say that this year for the Konmen may have been, what do you say…. Fluke? I’ll stick with my 4 MFL championships thank you…

    • Fluke?! Ha! The Konmen have been on the cusp of greatness for years, it just took until 2009-2010 for the youngsters to come through in the clutch. Also, it seems to me the Mushtangs have taken a hit the past few years. Be it old age, kids, or work, the Mushtangs could use some help from a recent winner.
