Early Results from Knee Surgery

It’s been two days since the surgery and things are going well. Results of the surgery were good and bad. I’ll start with the bad. Prior to leaving the surgical center, my doctor notified me that the microfracture procedure was required in two areas in the knee along with some cleaning around the meniscus. Going into the surgery this was the worst case scenario as it will require 8 weeks on crutches, approx. 8 weeks using a continuous passive motion (CPM) machine for at least 8 hours per day, and limited mobility around the house and town. I’ve heard some people use the CPM while sleeping at night and am not sure how they do it. I’d hate to take sleeping pills or something of the sort just to be able to sleep though. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some good time in on the CPM while taking time off from work or when working from home. And now for the good news. According the doctor the surgery was a success. Now, the only thing keeping me from a successful recovery is patience, hard work, and a lot of luck!
