Site Upgrades

While in DC and NY last week I heard something a few times that surprised me. Multiple people made comments about reading my blog. Who would have thunk it?! Now, if I can just get those people to add comments I’ll consider that to be progress. Add the fact that Joker might not feel so alone if we get some comments from other people .

In addition to those comments, I was also asked to add to the site a way to allow others to post their thoughts, specifically when the topic doesn’t correspond to one of my blog posts. The best way to do that is to create a forum. It took me a few hours today, but I found a tool called bbPress and was able to install the forum on the site. The forum is separated into various topics such as Poulios.com, Sports, and Scranton. So now when something big happens, like the Mets trading for and signing Johan Santana, and I’m not around to blog about it, you can discuss it on the forum.

The one negative with all forums, including bbPress, is the requirement to register in order to add a topic or respond to a post. Sorry, I know it sucks. Even I hate registering with sites just to add my opinion, but maybe you’ll have fun with this site and consider it worth it. And have fun with your user name. Liver, Stinky, and Joker are all valid user id’s… and actual nicknames for people I know .

In addition to adding a forum to the site I’ve updated the blog to WordPress 2.3.3, which caused a few glitches that haven’t yet been fixed. The glitch prevents the site from adding a random picture from the photo albums. As such, the blog is a little more blah, I’ll try to fix it soon (which means by the end of the year).

I guess that’s it for now. It’s getting to be happy hour here in Keystone, which means I should head out for a few drinks. Have a good weekend!
