Fantasy Football Week 7/8 Update

It’s Thursday, which means it’s update time for Fantasy Football 2009.  It also means I finally get to go home tomorrow with no travel scheduled, work or personal, for the next 4 weeks.  My next travel will be to Hawaii the week after Thanksgiving, the same place I wanted to go to back in July when work got in the way.  Can’t wait!  Ok, back to fantasy football.  Overall, not a whole lot of good news last week for my football teams, so here goes:

Survival Pool:

Week 7 Pick – Indianapolis
Remaining Players – 15 (32 eliminated)

This is the one league where I’ve pretty much had it easy all season, including last week with the Colts, but I’m a little nervous with this weeks pick.  San Diego is a big favorite, but sometimes you never know with divisional games.  Take the Fish beating the Jets 3 weeks ago, who would have picked that to happen?!  Another 2 teams were eliminated last week.  What’s surprising is that these 2 players didn’t even make a pick last week, what were they thinking?!  So far this season I’ve picked Baltimore, Minnesota, New York (N), Chicago, Philly, Green Bay, and Indianapolis - all of which are not available to be picked again this season.

Week 8 Pick – San Diego

Pick ‘em:

Week 7 Points – 70
Total Points – 615
Overall Rank – 11th

Finally, a decent week only picking 3 games wrong.  And when I say decent, I mean average, which is much better than how I was doing the past 2 weeks.  Overall, I stayed in place at 11th, now I just need to start moving up a bit.   This week I’m picking zero upsets, yes Zero.  Not sure if it’s pure laziness or just the way it’s gong to work out, but that’s the way I see it going down this week.   Looking back at the past few weeks though, it seems there are always a few upsets each week, so this could be a bad week for the Konmen.  Oh well.

Week 8 Upset Picks – None

Fantasy Football:

Week 6 - Lost 106-91 to Primanti Brothers
Overall Rank – 5-2, 3rd (10 teams)
Overall Points - 812 (2nd Most)

So, as of Monday morning I was winning by 10 points with each team having 1 active player for MNF.  I had Chris Cooley, Primanty Brothers had the Iggles DEF.  Things started good with Cooley getting a couple of passes and 20+ yards.  The win was looking good.  Then everything came crashing down.  The Iggles DEF returned an INT for a TD and then Cooley went down with an injury.  The Iggles DEF ended up with 20+ points, which I probably wasn’t going to get from Cooley anyway.   Primanty Brothers, a stout Stillers fan, must have had a tough time rooting for the enemy on Monday.   With Cooley down, I was able to pick up Jeremy Shockey by dropping the San Fran. DEF, leaving me with DEN as the only DEF on the roster, which is the way it should be.

Week 8 Starters – K. Warner (QB-ARI), S. Smith (WR-CAR), D. Driver (WR-GB), D. Henderson (WR-NOS), A. Petersen (RB-MIN), M. Forte (RB-CHI), T. Jones (RB/WR – NYJ), J Shockey (TE-NOS), L. Tynes (K-NYJ), Denver (DEF).

Week 8 Bench – C. Palmer (QB-CIN), K. Smith (RB-DET), F. Jackson (RB-BUF), H. Ward (WR – PIT), S. Moss (WR-WAS), C. Cooley (TE-WAS).

Week 8 Yahoo! Projected Score - 111-91 (vs. Toejam Football - 8th Place - 580 Points).
